Robin Cappuccino, “6th annual fundraising indian dinner and silent auction”

A fundraising dinner and silent auction, co-sponsored by UUEstrie, held at Restaurant Shalimar in Lennoxville. This will be the 6th annual celebration of this event for the benefit of Child Haven International, a Canadian Charity based in Maxville ON, which provides homes for over 1,000 formerly destitute children in south Asia. Un dîner-bénéfice et un encan silencieux, coparrainés par UUEstrie au restaurant Shalimar à Lennoxville. Ce sera la 6e édition de ce type d’événement au profit de Child Haven International, une organisation caritative canadienne basée à Maxville, en Ontario. Child Haven héberge plus de 1000 enfants autrefois démunis en Asie du Sud. Tous sont plus que bienvenus. Parlez à Phyllis Baxter (918-346-8273) pour obtenir des billets ou des réservations.

“Poetry Coffee House”

Come celebrate Poem in your Pocket Day with poetry, candlelight, and delicacies. Come and listen, or bring a favourite poem or one of your own to read in the language of your choice. In the midst of National Poetry Month, Poem in Your Pocket Day is an international movement that encourages folks to center poetry within their daily interactions. On PIYP Day, select a poem, carry it with you, and share it with others at schools, bookstores, libraries, parks, workplaces, coffee shops, street corners, and on social media using the hashtag #PocketPoem.

Venez célébrer La Journée d’un poème dans votre poche avec de la poésie, des chandelles, et des collations. Venez et écoutez ou apportez un poème préféré ou l’un des vôtres à lire dans la langue de votre choix. Au cœur du Mois national de la poésie, La Journée d’un poème dans votre poche est un mouvement international qui encourage les gens à centrer la poésie dans leurs interactions quotidiennes. Lors de cette journée, sélectionnez un poème, emportez-le avec vous et partagez-le avec d’autres écoles, librairies, bibliothèques, parcs, lieux de travail, cafés, coins de rue et sur les réseaux sociaux à l’aide du hashtag #PocketPoem.

“Games Day” / “Journée des jeux”

Once a year we invite members and friends of our congregation to a ‘social, Sunday called Games Day. Families and children are welcome as well as adults of all ages. Bring a game or two share if you like. Juice and popcorn.

Nous invitons les membres et amis de notre congrégation à un dimanche social appelé la Journée des jeux. Les familles et les enfants sont les bienvenus, ainsi que les adultes de tous âges. Apportez un jeu ou deux à partager si vous le souhaitez. Jus et maïs soufflé.

Ms. Kate Reed, “Journey to Alaska” / Voyage en Alaska

Kate and partner Raymond traveled across the country all the way to Alaska, making contact with indigenous people along the way.

Avec l’esprit d’aventure, Kate Reed et Raymond L’Italien (tous deux âgés de plus de 75 ans) ont conduit leur petit véhicule de plaisance sur 20 500 km, soit 2 mois et demi pour découvrir les merveilles de notre pays, de l’Alaska, du Montana et de revenir chez eux. Ils partageront ce voyage avec des commentaires animés et une présentation photographique. (en anglais)

Rev. Mead Baldwin, “Sometimes God has a Children’s Face”

Rev. Mead Baldwin was born and raised in Baldwin’s Mills,” one of God’s most Beautiful places”. With post secondary studies in pure and Applied Science, Religious Studies, and Ministry, he was ordained into the United Church ministry in 1979 and served in New Brunswick, and in the Ottawa area before returning to the Townships ten years ago. He is now based in Waterville. Today he will reflect on the wisdom of children.

Amy Panetta, “Drum and Song Circle”

This will be a participatory gathering in our Stoddard Hall–a Drum and Song Circle led by Amy Panetta. Amy is a UU from New Jersey, now living in the Townships. She is a music teacher by profession, and looking forward to leading us in this activity, one of our ‘alternate’ winter services. We will build community while drumming together and joining our voice together in a few songs. If you have hand drums, please bring them. If not, we will have a number to choose from.
