DESCRIPTION:On or near the first Sunday in January\, many Unitarian Universalist congregations hold a ritual to bid farewell to the old year\, and to release it. \nIn the words of Rev. Elizabeth Harding\, “The fire communion separates the end of the year from the beginning\, helping us to put in perspective the joys and sorrows\, the changes and transitions\, the ups and downs of the year. It’s a half-way point in our church year\, but a celebration of the outside calendar’s year’s end and year’s beginning.” \nIn a ceremony of the burning bowl\, people are invited to write down write down words\, or a phrase\, to sum up what they wish to release before entering the new year. DESCRIPTION:Winter is a wonderful time to rest and recharge.  We all have our favorite activities to recuperate at this time of year\, including nights spent reading a good book or on the couch with a film that is relaxing and thought-provoking.  Our service topic this Sunday\, January 14th is inspired by watching such a film.  The 2014 Woody Allen film\, Magic in the Moonlight which\, when seen\, brought up many personal memories when on the roller coaster journey of spirituality\, including deep questioning\, skepticism\, and angst\, as well as a desire for reverence\, magic\, and transcendence.  In the spirit of a “Free and Responsible Search for Truth and Meaning\,” let us reflect and share our own personal stories of belief formation\, non-formation\, and/or transformation with Amy Panetta\, Service Leader. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nL’hiver est une période merveilleuse pour se reposer et se ressourcer. Nous avons tous nos activités préférées pour récupérer à cette période de l’année\, notamment des nuits passées à lire un bon livre ou sur le canapé avec un film relaxant et stimulant. Notre sujet de service de ce dimanche 14 janvier s’inspire du visionnage d’un tel film.
