DESCRIPTION:Giving Thanks: A Thanksgiving Service at the Historical Huntingville Universalist Church. A traditional Thanksgiving service is planned at this historical church building\, preserved in its original state\, with 19th century box pews and balcony. A rare opportunity to see the interior of the building that is now closed to the public\, and to learn about its origins and past. Located in Waterville (Huntingville) on Route 147\, just across the road from the Mitchell Road Bridge. Free-will donation invited for the maintenance of the Huntingville Universalist Church and grounds. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nUn service de Thanksgiving traditionnel est prévu dans cette église historique\, conservée dans son état d’origine\, avec des bancs en bois enfermés et un balcon du XIXe siècle. Une occasion rare de voir l’intérieur du bâtiment qui est maintenant fermé au public et d’en apprendre davantage sur ses origines et son passé. Situé à Waterville (Huntingville) sur la route 147\, juste en face du pont de Mitchell Road. Don volontaire invité pour l’entretien de l’église universaliste de Huntingville et de son terrain.

SUMMARY:Rachel Garber\, “Veiled Like Me: About Bill 21”
DESCRIPTION:What I learned from the “Veiled Like Me” experiment\, and reflections on Quebec’s Bill 21 (An Act Respecting the Laicity of the State) that forbids some public employees to wear “religious symbols\,” including the hijab. Information about a possible court challenge to the law on the grounds that public debate was short-circuited in order to deny basic rights to Quebec citizens that would otherwise be guaranteed by the Quebec and Canadian Charters of Rights and Freedoms. \n~~~~~~~~ \nCe que j’ai appris de l’expérience «Veiled Like Me» et des réflexions sur le loi 21 du Québec (Loi sur la laïcité de l’État) qui interdit à certains fonctionnaires de porter des « symboles religieux\, » y compris le hijab. Information sur une possible contestation judiciaire de la loi au motif que le débat public a été court-circuité afin de priver les citoyens québécois de droits fondamentaux qui seraient autrement garantis par les Chartes des droits et libertés du Québec et du Canada.
