DESCRIPTION:As the world once again faces the inherent evil of fascism\, especially in the United States\, we find hope and inspiration in looking back at the courageous actions of Unitarian Universalists during World War II\, acts that saved many lives in Europe and led to the formation of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. \nMike McCleese\, a landscape garden designer and community organizer\, has been traveling the world for over three decades\, including a two-year assignment in Africa as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. Mike attends services at both First Universalist Parish of Derby Line\, and the Quaker Meeting in Barton. Together with UU Estrie’s Janet Watson\, Mike was the main organizer of the March 7th ‘Cross-border Song Fest’ in Stanstead. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nAlors que le monde est de nouveau confronté aux dangers du fascisme\, particulièrement aux États-Unis\, nous puisons espoir et inspiration dans les gestes courageux posés par les universalistes unitariens pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Leurs actions ont permis de sauver de nombreuses vies en Europe et ont mené à la création du Comité de service unitarien universaliste (Unitarian Universalist Service Committee). \nMike McCleese\, concepteur de jardins paysagers et organisateur communautaire\, parcourt le monde depuis plus de trente ans. Son parcours comprend notamment une affectation de deux ans en Afrique comme volontaire du Peace Corps américain. Mike participe aux activités de la First Universalist Parish de Derby Line ainsi qu’à l’assemblée quaker de Barton. Avec Janet Watson de UU Estrie\, il a été le principal organisateur du « Festival transfrontalier de chants » tenu à Stanstead le 7 mars dernier.

DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to cultivate an inner life through meditation? In this service\, Madhu Mann will share his own journey of developing a meditation practice over nearly 50 years\, and reflect on how that practice led him to facilitate meditation programs in prisons around the world for two decades. The service will also explore the role of chanting and meditation as pathways to greater presence\, compassion\, and inner peace. Whether you are new to meditation or have an established practice\, all are welcome to join this exploration of the inner journey. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nQue signifie cultiver une vie intérieure grâce à la méditation? Au cours de cette rencontre\, Madhu Mann partagera son parcours personnel et les quelque 50 années de pratique méditative qui ont façonné sa vie. Il évoquera également les 20 années durant lesquelles il a animé des ateliers de méditation dans des établissements correctionnels à travers le monde\, ainsi que la place du chant et de la méditation comme voies vers une présence plus profonde\, la compassion et la paix intérieure. Que vous découvriez la méditation ou que vous la pratiquiez depuis longtemps\, vous êtes chaleureusement invité·e à prendre part à cette exploration du voyage intérieur.

DESCRIPTION:What happens when we allow ourselves to become just a little more open? In this experiential service\, we will explore how physical openness can help us reconnect—with ourselves\, with one another\, and with the world around us. \nJulie Richard is among the francophone individuals who discovered the Unitarian Universalist movement and found her way to UU Estrie to meet others curious to explore and reflect together on the sacred. She will be offering services at UU Estrie when possible\, helping us put into practice our aspiration to offer more French-language programming and to welcome francophone voices into our community. \nIn her professional life\, she is an osteopath specializing in visceral work\, mental health\, and palliative care. Beyond that\, she immerses herself in singing\, the mountains\, and the beauty of the people around her. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nQue se passe-t-il lorsque nous nous permettons de nous ouvrir\, ne serait-ce qu’un peu plus? Dans cette rencontre expérientielle\, nous explorerons comment l’ouverture physique peut nous aider à renouer avec nous-mêmes\, avec les autres et avec le monde qui nous entoure. \nJulie Richard fait partie des personnes francophones qui ont découvert le mouvement unitarien universaliste et qui ont trouvé leur chemin vers UU Estrie pour rencontrer d’autres personnes curieuses d’explorer et de réfléchir ensemble au sacré. Elle offrira des rencontres à UU Estrie lorsque cela sera possible\, contribuant ainsi à mettre en pratique notre aspiration à proposer davantage de programmation en français et à accueillir les voix francophones au sein de notre communauté. \nDans sa vie professionnelle\, elle est ostéopathe et se spécialise dans le travail viscéral\, la santé mentale et les soins palliatifs. Au-delà de son travail\, elle se passionne pour le chant\, les montagnes et la beauté des personnes qui l’entourent.

DESCRIPTION:“Curiosity killed the cat!” “Stay curious!” There are different ways of looking at Curiosity. Is it a helpful spiritual practice\, or an attribute that creates problems? Join us as we explore these questions. \nReverend Janet has served the Gloucester (Massachusetts) UU Church since 2015. Prior to entering the UU ministry\, she was a public policy specialist focusing on affordable housing programs. Janet has two grown sons that she doesn’t see enough of\, and dabbles in pottery and gardening. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \n« La curiosité a tué le chat ! » « Restez curieux ! » Il existe différentes façons de voir la curiosité. Est-elle une pratique spirituelle qui peut nous aider\, ou plutôt un trait de caractère qui peut nous attirer des ennuis ? Joignez-vous à nous pour explorer ces questions. \nLa révérende Janet Parsons est au service de l’Église UU de Gloucester\, au Massachusetts\, depuis 2015.
