SUMMARY:Aug 31st\, 10:30 a.m. Outing - Self-Sufficiency: Doing Everything Yourself with the Environment's Resources Autosuffisance : tout faire soi-même avec les ressources de l'environnement
DESCRIPTION:Let’s meet at the Weller Farm hangar/dance hall. After a brief welcome and introductions\, participants can explore interest groups and activities highlighting the theme of self-sufficiency: from homesteading and organic gardening to innovative projects like pond construction\, drone programming\, and small-aircraft design. \nAt noon\, we’ll come together to share a potluck picnic\, either outdoors in the picnic area or indoors in the hall\, depending on the weather. \nPlease bring: \nA dish to share for the potluck \nFolding chairs (for mealtime and also useful for resting\, if needed) \nCuriosity and questions! \nAlso available on site: U-Pick garden and orchard. \nWe are especially fortunate to be joined by our current WWOOFer*\, Agnas from Hungary\, who brings a wealth of knowledge in fields ranging from electrobiology and plant science to laser technology. She will also share her personal story of growing up in Hungary\, first under Soviet influence\, through the democratic transition into NATO membership\, and into the challenges of the present political climate. \nIn addition\, it’s worth remembering that Unitarianism itself originated in 16th-century Transylvania\, then part of Hungary. Agnas may be able to answer questions about that historical connection as well. \n*For those who don’t know: A WWOOFer (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms volunteer) is a traveler who helps on organic farms in exchange for room\, board\, and learning experiences. The Weller family has hosted WWOOFers from all over the world\, making this gathering a unique opportunity for cultural exchange\, learning\, and conversation. \nWeller Farm.png\nDirections:\nAfter partially driving on dirt roads\, you’ll arrive at 4945 ch Stage Road in Stanstead\, QC. Turn into the small parking lot and continue up an incline (see the orange highlighteron the map above). Be sure to take a right when the trail splits off and you will be able to park where you see the hangar building which houses the dance floor; this is the meeting place!

SUMMARY:Sunday\, Nov 3\, 10:30 a.m. - "A Sunday with Soul" with Aaron Ricker (en anglais)
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, we mark All Souls Day by thinking together about the importance of memory and memorial. Aaron will offer a quick reflection on the cultural traditions related to All Souls Day\, within the larger frame of human history: we as a species have been doing our best to honour our dead for a very long time\, and the way we do it says a lot about us. Then\, as UU Estrie often does\, we will invite people to share something if they like – in this case\, a few words about a departed person\, pet\, etc\, who is still important to you in some way. It’s a moment to learn a little about each other\, and to consider what memory and memorial mean to us.

SUMMARY:Sunday\, October 6\, 10:30 a.m. - Mahatma Gandhi: Be the Change You Wish To See\, Led by Amy Panetta
DESCRIPTION:October 2nd marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. In his honor\, the International Day of Non-Violence is commemorated. The United Nations established this occasion in order to “disseminate the message of non-violence\, including through education and public awareness” which reaffirms “the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence” and the desire “to secure a culture of peace\, tolerance\, understanding and non-violence.” As Gandhi’s well-known words ring out\, we ask ourselves: How will we be the change we wish to see in the world? \nJoin us for a potluck after the service with Rev. Carole Martignacco. She will also be giving an informal poetry reading. Please bring dishes to share.\n~~~~~ \nLe 2 octobre marque l’anniversaire du Mahatma Gandhi.
